What's in a Name?
Hong Kong based entrepreneur David Yeung is a great admirer of British style and fashion. Despite the fact that he had never been to Britain he gave his company a name that sounded English which would, he hoped, indicate the high quality of his travel bags and wallets. |
Jill Scott handbags have been in business for 10 years now: they produce 10,000 leather, PU and jacquard fabric handbags each month from suppliers in China, Taiwan and Korea and retail them through 25 retail shops in Hong Kong. Annual turnover stands at over HK$40 million. |
To most people this would seem like a total success story, but Mr Yeung is not satisfied. He wants to take his company into the export market and reach a much wider customer base internationally. With this in mind he exhibited with a very attractive booth in Fashion Avenue during the recent Fashion Access last March. |
This was Mr Yeung's second time at Fashion Access and he stressed that he had a great deal of help from the organisers in setting up his booth. "Everything was done to assist me, and I was very appreciative of the service", he said, "I also appreciate the high standard of the exhibitors here and the general appeal and attractiveness of the show."
He gives credit too to his very talented Hong Kong designer, Nicole Kwan, who heads his design team.

Jill Scott handbags are a true success and, in all fairness to Mr Yeung and his team that success is probably due to more than just having an English sounding name.
You can meet Jill Scott again in Fashion Avenue at Fashion Access held from 2 to 4 October 2008. |
